6-Week Intro to the Wheel - Wednesdays

Welcome to our 6-Week Intro to the Wheel Course! This course is designed for beginners who are interested in learning the art of pottery making using a pottery wheel, and want to develop their skills over time. Over the course of six weeks, our experienced instructor will guide you through the process of centering the clay on the wheel, forming the clay into shapes, and creating functional pottery pieces such as bowls, cups, and vases. Each session will build upon the previous one, allowing you to develop your skills and techniques in a step-by-step approach. In the first few weeks, you will focus on the basics of throwing on the wheel, including centering the clay, creating a basic cylinder shape, and pulling walls to create height. In the following weeks, you will continue to build on these skills and learn more advanced techniques such as altering shapes, creating texture, and attaching handles. All materials and tools will be provided, including clay and glazes. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, and bringing an apron or smock to protect your clothing. Throughout the course, you will receive individual attention and instruction to ensure you are comfortable with the techniques being taught. At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to select your favorite piece to be fired and glazed by our team. This piece will be available for pickup approximately two weeks after the final class.
